Wayne was born in Augusta, Georgia on June 29, 1952. He retired from the City of Chattanooga Traffic Engineering Department and was a member of the Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents George Warren Herring and Betty Jean Hurd; and his loving wife of 34 years, Sonja Herring.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Anslea (Sean) Dunwoody; grandson Will Dunwoody; brother Jack (Patsy) Herring; niece Michele Herring; and step-children Tina (Clint) Petty and Tim (Sara) Knight; step-grandchildren Emma Beth and Jake Petty, Hannah and Noah Knight.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or the charity of your choice.
The family will have a private graveside service for Wayne.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tennessee.
