Adriana Mia "Tita" Ruiz, 16, passed away on December 9, 2010 at Texas Children's Hospital due to complications with Cystic Fibrosis. Adriana was born Sunday, July 3, 1994 in Houston, TX. Survived by mother Gloria M. Martinez, older brother Dominique Ruiz, older sister Laura Ruiz, father Jose R. Ruiz, (wife) Nancy Ruiz, younger half sister Lilia Ruiz, and younger half-brother Adrian Ruiz, numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and grandfather Ismael R. Martinez.
Mia is preceded in death by her maternal relatives Grandmother Esperanza O. Martinez, her Aunt "Tia Baby" Rosario Molinar and her Cousin Andrea "Andie" Renee Martinez. Paternal relatives: Grandfather Raphael Ruiz, Grandmother Sylvania Ruiz. All these angels along with Our Lord Our God, Jesus Christ Our Saviour, and all the Saints welcomed Mia in to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Mia's family and friends walk annually in the national Great Strides Walk to fight and find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Her team, "Mia's Miracle Walkers" began walking in 1996 to present. CF is an aggressive and cruel disease that affects the lungs and other internal organs. Mia was diagnosed with CF when she was 2 1/2 years old. Living and fighting CF is not easy but with love and support of her friends, family and caregivers she was blessed to have survived this long.
Adriana was a proud bulldog at John H Reagan high school where she was determined to graduate with friends she cherished and loved very much, and had hopes of graduating Class of 2012. Mia excelled in art, loved music, skating, surfing, snorkeling, guitar, and her pets. After graduation Mia had dreams of joining the U.S. Coast Guard as a rescue swimmer she also had great aspirations of becoming a tattoo artist.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes a donation be made in Mia's honor to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mia battled CF for 14 years and they donated what could be used of Mia to help with additional research for CF.
The family wishes to thank Mia's doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Texas Children's Hospital for all the care and support they gave Mia and the family. Most of all, we are most grateful for the way that Mia was able to journey from this earthly world and enter in to the Kingdom of Heaven with her family at her side.
Mia's smiles, humor, love and touch will be missed very much by all those who knew her.
