Banks, Sr. and First Lady Oleivie Banks of Houston, Texas. Alfred was the fifth of twelve siblings. Alfred
attended school in the Aldine Independent School District and Carver High School in Houston, Texas.
Alfred met Audrey Alexander in May of 1975. After six months of acquaintance, they married November 15, 1975. To this union, four beautiful girls were born. He loved his wife and daughters from the bottom of his heart. He was the type of father and husband that would go above and beyond to provide for his family.
Alfred confessed his ministry and was licensed to preach by his father, the Late Reverend Jackson Banks, Sr in 1982. In 1985, He served under the leadership of Dr. D.R. Whiteside at Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church as a faithful servant.
He was called to pastor at Kendleton Missionary Baptist Church in 1988. Throughout his ministry he accomplished many achievements. Alfred received his bachelor’s degree in theology in 1992 and aimed even higher to receive his Doctor of Divinity in 1998. He served as chaplain for the city of Kendleton Police Department under Mayor Carolyn Jones. He served as a member in the Eastgate 329 Masonic Chapter.
Alfred was constantly preaching and witnessing to the citizens of Kendleton which led to the saving and deliverance of many souls including the homeless population. His unique style of preaching would draw people closer to the Lord. Alfred had a specialty of witnessing to those who had addictions due to his empathetic heart and his own personal experiences as well. He licensed and ordained many sons and daughters in the ministry. He aimed to continue the legacy of his late father, Pastor Jackson Banks, Sr.
God blessed Alfred with a gift of carpentry. Alfred was employed at Forged Vessel connections in Houston, Texas. He started out as a janitor and worked his way up to the top machinist in the company. At one point he also owned and operated his own machine company, All Insdustries. Among other things he had a love for dog training as well. He was a great cook and could Barbecue with the best. He was known for his famous “AJ Burgers” named after his grandson Adreik Jr. Alfred was a man of many talents!
On March 15, 2024, Dr. Alfred Earl Banks entered the gates of Heaven surrounded by his loving family.
Alfred is preceded in death by his daughter, Alfredia Banks, grandsons Da’Neil and Daniel Provo, his parents Reverend Jackson Banks, Sr. and Oleivie Banks, his brothers Rev. Jackson Jr., Howard, and John, his sisters Maxine, Earnestine and Verna, and his father in love, Leo Alexander, Sr.
Alfred leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, First Lady Audrey Gail Banks, his three daughters
Audrey Provo, (Darrell), Shamarian Banks(De’Karr), Sharita Witherspoon (DeMarcus), one bonus son,
Javarus Johnson, Son In Christ, Rev. Desmond Gordon (Monique), mother in love Shirley Alexander; sister Jacquelin Banks-Lewis (William); his brothers Henry Banks (Carolyn), Rev. Larry Banks, Johnny Banks, Arthur Banks, special nephew John Banks, His grandchildren, Adreik Jr, Kennedy, Darrian, Darrell Jr, Ashtun, Collin, De’reon, Da’Leeya, and Elin. His bonus grandchildren, Chelsia, Kelsey, and Madison; and a goddaughter, Terrencia Murray. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Last but certainly not least, the loving congregation of KMBC, the Temple of Glory.
Alfred shall lie in repose Friday, March 22, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Temple Of Glory Church, 100 Guess Avenue, Kendleton, TX 77417. He shall also lie in repose Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, 5510 W Sam Houston Pkwy N, Houston, TX 77041. His life will be Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, 5510 W Sam Houston Pkwy N, Houston, TX 77041. His mortal body will be entombed Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077. A memorial meal (repast) will occur Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, 5510 W Sam Houston Pkwy N, Houston, TX 77041.
