He was one of the few to be licensed to weld on high risk equipment. Alfred continued to take classes every time a new opportunity presented itself. Mr. Thompson went to work for Gulf Oil overseas in Venezuela, South America. The whole family moved to Puerto La Cruz where they spent 15 years. Later on Alfred and his family moved to Spain where he became head of engineering. Not only did Alfred take plenty of courses for engineer but also in Spanish in Spain. He firmly believed in the old saying “when in Rome, do as the Romans”. While the Thompson family lived aboard they experienced as much of each country as possible and traveled throughout Europe. After another 15 years Mr. Thompson retired and moved to the Houston area to be near family. God has truly blessed the Thompson family throughout the years.
