Alfred Torres, 72, of Houston, Texas, passed January 11, 2024. Alfred was born to Manuel L. Torres and Josefina Torres, May 13, 1951, in Brownsville, TX. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1971 and attended San Jacinto Jr. College. Alfred met his wife, Rosa Lidia Ayala in 1994, and they lived together in Houston, TX. Together they have eight children.
He is survived by his wife Rosa Lidia Ayala and his children, from a previous marriage, Christopher Lee Torres, Michael Anthony Torres, Denise Diane Romano, Erica Nicole Torres; as well as his step-children Nancy Goretti Lopez, Vannesa Marilyn Rivas and Juan Carlos Maravilla.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings Carlos Jose Torres, Rose Gutierrez, Martha Torres Moreno, Gloria R. Cronan, Raul Torres and Lupe Torres; and his grandchildren Daniela Leeana Torres, Ellarose Leigh Torres, Carissa Loren Torres, Aria Trinity Torres, Eli River Domingo Alfred Torres, Paloma Sky Torres, Ethan Kasten Torres Antell, Ava Ryan Torres Romano, Wesley Austin Torres Romano, Cameron Alexander Mendez, Alexis Nichole Sanchez, Margil Jordan Mireles, Caleb Christopher Mireles, Christian Alfred Rodriguez, Isabella Nichole Rodriguez, Jason Meza, Valeria Meza, Nicole López, Emilio Rosales, Alexandria Rivas, Andrew Nova, Ariel Rivas, Salvador Rivas III, Jonathan Maravilla, Helena Maravilla, Leonel Maravilla, Bella Maravilla, Benjamin Maravilla, Christian Maravilla, Scarlett Castro, Sebastian Castro and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by Alfred Torres, Jr., (son), Manuel L. Torres, (father), and Josefina Torres, (mother). Alfred worked as a self-employed contractor for about fifty-five years. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and family.
Alfred enjoyed watching the Astros, the Texans, the Dynamo and the Rockets. He also enjoyed outings at the beach, family events and simply hanging out in his own back yard.
A viewing is scheduled for Friday, January 19, 2024 at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023, with immediate family from 4:00-5:00 p.m. and close relatives, friends, colleagues and others from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m.
Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7250 Harrisburg Blvd, Houston, TX 77011, is scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with the Committal to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Father Henry Walker will officiate both the Funeral Mass and ceremony. A reception will be held immediately following the Committal at Mucho Mexico, 1310 N Wayside Dr, Houston, TX 77020.
