Alice Ruth Franklin Reese, 84, of Cypress, Texas, went to be with our Lord on January 8th, 2025. Alice was born in Deport, Texas in 1940 to her beloved parents, Kathryn and Finis Franklin. She spent most of her childhood in Bay City, Texas where she was an incredible student and athlete. She played basketball and volleyball and was always the star of every team. She played for fun all through her life and passed her love of sports on to her grandchildren. She grew up with her beloved sister and brother, Nancy and Jimmie.
After graduating high school, she attended the Wharton Junior College School of Nursing and became a highly respected pediatric nurse. She spent almost forty years at Houston Pediatric Associates in Bellaire, Texas (which later became Texas Children’s Pediatrics). She was a cherished nurse and helped thousands of children throughout her career. She loved many of those children as her own. She was blessed that her best friend and sister, Nancy, got to spend all those years working with her.
She spent a couple of years working in real estate with her dear friends, Jimmy and Joycelyn Young. While Alice did not always have an easy life, she worked incredibly hard to provide for her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and family above all else, along with her faith in God. She was very active in her family’s lives and spent many cherished moments with them. She was a much loved mom and Grammie.
Alice was very strong in her faith and was a member of Cypress United Methodist Church for many years. She met her husband, John Reese, in the singles group at the church and married him in 1996. While John unfortunately passed away in 1999, this was a very happy and joyful time in Alice’s life. They got to travel extensively and fully enjoy those three years.
Alice loved her family, her church, her friends, and all animals. She would do anything for anyone and was a friend to all she met. There is no person who had a kinder heart, spirit, and soul than Alice.
Alice is survived by her children, daughter, Stacy Russell and husband Brian Nelson, and son, Russel Stanley and wife Tania. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Savannah Nelson (15), Russel A Stanley (16), Christopher Stanley (13), Brenna Stanley (20) Brandi Stanley (20), and Millena Nunes (24), and her sister, Nancy Perry and husband John Perry.
Funeral services will be held on January 17, 2025, at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77060. Visitation, 10:00 a.m.; Service 11:00 a.m.; Burial 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow at Hilton Houston North, 12400 Greenspoint Drive 77060. Lunch will be served.
