Almon Perkins Jr.

Almon “Al” Perkins Jr., 97, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. He was born on November 2, 1928, in Singer, Louisiana.

Al served his country in the United States Army before beginning a lifelong career as a machinist. He owned and operated his own machine shop, where he manufactured oil pipe fittings. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and willingness to help others.

Al shared 70 years of marriage with the love of his life, Helen Diane Smith Perkins. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, faith, and family.

Al is preceded in death by his son, Guy Perkins.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Mark Perkins, Dawn Perkins Stafford and husband Brent, and Eve Perkins; his grandchildren, Caitlin Perkins Perry and husband Dustin, Whitley Perkins, Brooke Stafford Campbell, and Brayton Stafford; and his great-grandchildren, Laila Hernandez, Taylor Bateman, Ada Stafford, and Cason Stafford.

A faithful elder in his church, Al lived his faith through quiet service, kindness, and humility. He loved spending time with his family, reading and working in the yard. He especially loved babies, children, and animals, who were always drawn to his gentle spirit.

Al had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for giving everyone a nickname. His twinkling blue eyes, expressive bushy eyebrows, and playful personality brought smiles wherever he went. One cherished memory from his younger years was riding the city bus with Diane to their jobs at the Cotton Exchange, where their life together was just beginning.

While we will miss him deeply, we rejoice knowing he has finished the race he began with his Savior. His legacy of faith, love, hard work, laughter, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
