

Alvina Frances (Hibbeler) Geisler, 77, of Cypress, Texas died January 14, 2013 in Round Rock, Texas of a pulmonary thromboembolism. She was born December 2, 1935 in Dime Box, Texas to William Henry Hibbeler and Ruby Emma (Schwartz), baptized in Lexington, Texas in February 1936. Her family moved to Houston when she was very young. She was confirmed in to the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended Berry Elementary School, Burbank Junior High School and Jeff Davis High School where she graduated in 1954. She married in 1958 at Trinity. She gave birth to her first son Jerrel Edward in 1959. She worked at “The Light Company”, Houston Lighting & Power, until becoming pregnant with Jerrel when she had to quit due to employment requirements of the day. Her second son Norman Eugene was born in 1961.
She divorced in 1962 the same year she began working at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Working several positions including Ward Clerk, Surgical Secretary and Staffing Coordinator, “Ms. G” (as she was affectionately known by her Methodist family) completed 50 years of service in April 2012 and retired on June 29, 2012.During her early years she enjoyed being a room mother for her sons’ classroom when possible, later accompanying her sons’ class on several field trips and then becoming a Soul Seeker “mom” and touring southern states with her sons and the Trinity Lutheran Church singing group in the late 1970’s.
She watched as her sons Norman and Jerrel wed wonderful women which gave birth to three beautiful grandchildren. Norman and Annalisa Beall married in 1987 and gave birth to Allison Lynn in 1990 and Wesley William in 1995; Jerrel and Deborah Smith married in 1989 and gave birth to Edward William in 1993.Further down the road she enjoyed seeing her grandchildren compete and become involved in school sports and activities including softball, basketball, football and school mascot duties. Everything from bundling up on a cold spring night in Louisiana seeing a college women’s softball game for Allison, braving a hot day in the September Texas heat watching Eddie running up and down the field in a heavy school mascot costume, and again bundling up for a cold fall night to watch Wesley play football in central Texas. She was honored by her family in September with a 5-day Cruise to Mexico for her retirement. She was currently planning additional trips to visit family and other adventures now that she had retired. During her life she never turned down the opportunity to travel with her family and visited various Texas attractions during the early years of her sons’ lives to later years visiting Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee, Washington and points between.She stayed active in the Church as a member of the Trinity Women’s Club, took trips with the Friendly Folks seniors group and for a time made calls for the Trinity home-bound ministry. She is survived by son Jerrel and wife Debbie of Houston, son Norman and wife Annalisa of Leander; three grandchildren, Allison of Leander, Edward of Houston, and Wesley of Leander; and loveable Chihuahua Chloe. She was preceded in death by her parents William Henry Hibbeler in 1991 and Ruby Emma (Schwartz) in 1978. She will be honored with a family visitation and viewing at Heights Funeral Home (1317 Heights Blvd., Houston) from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013. Her funeral service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church-Houston (800 Houston Ave.) at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013. She will be interred at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas with her parents. All arrangements are being handled by Heights Funeral Home. Pastor Donald G. Black of Trinity Lutheran Church will conduct the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Edward Geisler, Wesley Geisler, Geoffrey Abbott, Dennis Petrash, Stacy Beall, Kenneth Rizzuto, James Hamilton and Jeffrey Rizzuto. Service Crucifer will be Scott Glezen.Memorial donations may be made to “the H.U.G. (Help Us Grow building program for an Early Childhood Center) Campaign”, Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Houston Avenue, Houston, TX 77070; to Goodwill of Greater Houston; or to a charity of your choice.
