Amalia Reyna Lopez was the youngest of five children, born on April 10, 1929 in Edcouch, Texas to Monico and Maria Reyna. Amalia had a long, exciting and fulfilling life and died at home surrounded by her family at the age of 91.
While he was visiting his Tia Cuka that lived next door to Amalia’s parents in Elsa, Texas, Amalia met her husband, Conrado S. Lopez of Brownsville, Texas. They were married in 1952 and enjoyed 68 wonderful years together. After marriage, they moved to Chicago, Illinois for a brief time period before making their home in Houston, Texas in March of 1955.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dwight J. Lopez and her grandsons; Elijah Ryan Sabe’ & John Edward Lopez.
Ms. Lopez is survived by her husband, Conrado S. Lopez, 7 of her 8 children; Mary Sylvia Knierien of Sugarland, TX, Conrad Lopez of Houston, TX, Amalia and Ben Chamberlain of Deer Park, TX, Pollyanna and William Spears III of Melissa, TX, Edward and Monica Lopez of The Woodlands, TX, Yvette and Richard Sabe’ of Round Rock, TX, & Lisa and James McPherson of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she loved dearly.
Amalia will always be remembered as a devout Catholic and proud mother. Her strong beliefs lead her family. She had high standards for everyone and was always there to help encourage and give support. She touched many lives with her generosity and caring ways. She loved to travel to near and far away places with Conrado throughout her life. He always enjoyed the trips and just wanted to be where she was. She loved to visit with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She loved sewing, quilting, watching telenovelas, and celebrating holidays cooking and being surrounded by family and friends. Traveling with “Luceros de Fatima” a Senior Group with Our Lady of Fatima brought her and Conrado much enjoyment. She also loved her work with the “Legion of Mary” from Our Lady of Fatima.
Family and Friends are invited to attend Visitation on July 10th at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home 6900 Lawndale Street Houston, TX. Service July 11th
