Amelia McCunn affectionately known as “Mickie” was born October 12, 1931 to John F. Solez and Celsa Buck in Riverton Wyoming. Mickie had a challenging childhood, sadly she lost both of her parents at a very young age.
But at the age of 11 she was adopted by Nicholas and Pauline Vigil and they loved her deeply and were the only grandparents known to Mickie's grandchildren. Mickie purchased a beach house on Treasure Island and another on Grand Cayman Island where she won a deep sea fishing tournament for marlin. She also set a Texas state record for tarpon. Mickie's family enjoyed many fun times like birthdays, and other joyous occasions at both beach houses.
Mickie was a wonderful and fun mother. She always said that "she grew up with her children" as she was a young mother.
She was always involved in her son’s activities from Indian Guides to Scouts and she was the best den mother ever. She was highly creative. Some of her hobbies included writing, painting, and making jewelry. She bought a kiln and used it to create all kinds of beautiful art. Mickie was an expert seamstress and the clothing that she made was extraordinary. She made clothes for everyone in the family including her daughter’s Barbie dolls. Mickie was extremely talented.
She also loved opera and held second row season tickets to the Houston Opera for many years.
Mickie had a career as a real estate agent for Gary Greene and later obtained a brokerage license. While working in real estate she met many people that would continue to share life with her as lifelong friends.
She loved to cook and entertain, and she was well adept at both. Her parties were always first-rate with plenty of drinks and outstanding food. And she was the life of the party.
She always had a big smile and she always made everyone laugh.
