AOn Saturday August 14, 1971, Sam and Linda Wigfall were blessed with the gift of a beautiful baby boy they named Andre Maurice Wigfall. Andre grew up in and attended school in Houston, Texas, graduating from Madison High School in 1990.
Andre loved classic cars, cooking, and was known to be very stylish. Andre was "Jack of All Trades", surprising his family in the last few years by becoming an excellent carver and whittler, gifting family members with beautiful, personalized wood carved pieces.
Whether you called him Dad, son, brother, Uncle Andre, Dre, or friend, his most beautiful contribution was the love he had for his family and friends.
Andre dearly dearly loved his son De Andre, his "Dee". He was a strong and firm, yet loving disciplinarian; he loved the children in his family and he was their Uncle Andre, with his old grouchy self. When he got to them his first words were "WHAT Y'ALL DOING?", being sure to keep them on their toes and make sure to keep them on the right path.
Our Andre should have been a master debater, the way he loved to be right. He would argue from sun up to sun down, going non stop to prove his point about whatever subject was brought to him. Sometimes he would go on so long his mom would say, "Andre, please!", his brother Bubba would say "Man, that dude!", or his sister LaShawn would say "Okay Dre, you're right". Most people knew it was best to just give in and let him "be right".
Lashawn says she will always hold dear their childhood and the times she, Bubba, and Andre had together such as when his bonus dad, Melvin, was at work at Fire Station #25 and she and Bubba were home with Andre, insisting he was the boss of the house (even though she and Bubba would disagree). She loved the way they loved and looked after on another.
His friend Marian (AKA Rio) says he saw where Andre's heart was when his son was born. After having to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks, Rio's car a/c was out but the baby was coming home. Rio says Dre pulled up to the hospital and said, "My nephew ain't riding home with no a/c. Lets ride!"
Dre's friend of 35 years, Rico, says Andre was his sounding board, his voice of reason, most of all, his brother.
Cee Williams says he is going to miss his talks with Andre, exchanging of recipes, and talking about classic cars. He says when Andre gave, he gave with an open heart.
He is survived by his son DeAndre, his brother Jo Nathan aka Bubba (Skekateda), his sister LaShawn, his mother Linda (Charles), his father Sam Wigfall, his nieces Jhanae and Jalan, and his nephew Jamar.
Andre was a well loved man and he will truly be missed.
