Coach Andy Rice played college and professional football. He played at Texas Southern University (1961-64), and went to the American Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs in 1965. After winning the American Football League Championship with the Chiefs in 1966, he started for them in the first AFL-NFL World Championship Game. That game since has been re-named Super Bowl I. In his eight-year NFL career, Andy played for the Kansas City Chiefs (1966-67), the Houston Oilers (1967), the Cincinnati Bengals (1968-69), the San Diego Chargers (1970-71) and the Chicago Bears (1972-73). After the NFL, Andy taught and coached at Aldine High School with Bill Smith, where they won a state championship and a mythical national championship in 1990 with a 16-0 record. Aldine lost to Odessa Permian the previous year in the state championship game. He was at Aldine for 31 years with coach Smith. Andy had a radio program with Ralph Cooper during high school football season for 24 years, where they discussed the events of high school football.
