

Andy was born in Toisan province in China on September 18, 1932 and came to the United States in 1951. Here, he met future wife Olive, whom he wed in 1963. He and Olive have two daughters Carol Lim Chu and Terry Lim Hui. Andy graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1968, after 10 years of taking classes part-time while managing his parents' grocery store and raising his young family.
Upon graduation, Andy was employed by Lockheed NASA where he worked as an aeronautical engineer for 33 years before retiring in 2001. Andy was responsible for computer simulation training software for astronauts to practice maneuvering the space shuttle’s re-entry to earth. He would tell his grandchildren that he wrote video games for astronauts.
Andy was a well-respected man whose help, expertise, and advice were frequently sought. He loved to share his knowledge of all things practical with anyone who was willing to learn. He was especially talented with technology and had a profound understanding of how things work in the world. Andy was also an eloquent communicator, and he had the ability to establish a rapport with people of all ages. He was a car enthusiast, a handyman, and a do-it-yourselfer whose home-made gadgets were one-of-a-kind. He liked to travel, to enjoy a good laugh, and to sit back and enjoy watching his family thrive.
He is survived by his wife Olive; daughter Carol Chu and her husband Andy; daughter Terry Hui and her husband Saie-Yau; and seven grandchildren Cassidy, Nicholas, Mikaeli, and Sebastian Chu; and Jonathan, Adam, and Matthew Hui; sister Rose Lim; sister Helen L. Joe and husband Raymond and their two daughters Kristen Williams & husband Bert, and Katherine Joe; and nephew Mike Yuen, who was like a son to Andy, and his wife Sandra and their three boys Luke, Ethan, and Jude. Andy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces & grandnephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, 11-17-17 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Grand Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale. The family of Andy Lim will greet family & friends at this time.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, 11-18-17, at the Grand Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale. Officiant: Pastor George Lim.
