

Anne Julia Powell Worthington, 92, a lifelong resident of Houston, TX, loving wife, beloved sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 30, 2011. Anne was born in Houston on August 20, 1918 and was the second daughter of six daughters born to Mary and Dick Miller. Anne is survived by her sisters, Kay Smith Wilkins of Atlanta, GA Jessie M. Hartnett of Mesquite, TX and Martha Koska of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Frances Lyles and Mary Miller, her first husband Joe P. Powell, second husband Mack Worthington, and infant daughter. She is survived by nieces Susan Remmert (Doug), Dr. Carolyn Jones, Cindy Bandy (Jim), Darlene Prince (Gary); nephews Sonny Lyles (Cathy), Ron Koska (Donna), Lyle Guilbeau (Jan), Charles Guilbeau (Kathryn) as well as great nieces, nephews and friends.
Anne Worthington was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church. She spent much of her time and energy helping others. She often cooked food for relatives and friends in need, and was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews over the years. One of her most endearing qualities was her unending generosity. She enjoyed the Bay area and spent many years at Bayou Vista fishing from her pier. She and her husband welcomed friends and visitors. In her later years, she enjoyed time at her ranch in the country. She was a loving dog owner, always ready to resue a needy pet. She was preceded in death by her most faithful and loving dogs, Buster I and Buster II. The family extends special thanks to the ICU staff at Triumph Heights Hospital for the loving care and concern shown to Anne as she "fought the good fight."
The service and private burial was celebrated with bagpipes and special music at Earthman Resthaven. Honorary pallbearers were: Dick Hartnett, Doug Remmert, Lyle and Charles Guilbeau, John Lee and Victor Melnoskey.
