April Leigh Potts, 45, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025. Born on September 22, 1979, in Baytown, Texas, April was a radiant soul whose compassion, joy, and unwavering faith made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
She is lovingly remembered by her father and stepmother, Mark “Randy” and Kathy Potts; her mother, Cynthia Cleveland; her brother, Mark Potts; her sisters, Kristi Click and Misti Briles; her cherished grandmother, Mrs. Bobbie Potts; and her devoted aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moore. April also leaves behind her uncle, Garnett Cleveland, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins—each of whom was deeply touched by her love, warmth, and generosity.
Among the greatest blessings in April’s life was her beloved partner, Mr. Craig Smith. Together, April and Craig shared a beautiful and faith-filled relationship, grounded in mutual respect, deep affection, and an enduring friendship. From the moment they met—on the very day they both moved into Noah’s House—they became inseparable: best friends, companions, and soulmates. Their relationship was filled with laughter, encouragement, and a shared love for sports, especially their beloved Houston Astros and Texans. Their homes were proudly adorned with team memorabilia, and game days became treasured moments of joy and celebration.
A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, April lived as a bold and joyful witness for her Savior. A true prayer warrior, she shared the love of Christ with everyone she met, touching lives with her faith and inspiring many to begin their own spiritual journeys. April and Craig worshipped together at Second Baptist Church in Pearland, where they found both community and purpose in their shared devotion.
April’s final wish was a simple yet profound one—to return home with her father. That wish was fulfilled, and just two days later, she was called to her eternal home, passing peacefully in her sleep with her father by her side.
April’s legacy is one of unwavering faith, heartfelt love, and boundless encouragement. Her joyful spirit, kind heart, and radiant faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
To honor April’s memory and her love for the Houston Astros, those attending her funeral are invited to wear Astros shirts or jerseys—a tribute to her vibrant spirit and the team she so dearly loved.
April Leigh Potts will be greatly missed, but her light will continue to shine in the lives she touched.
A celebration of life for April will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
