Arnoldo Barrera was unexpectedly called home on September 13, 2023, and is now with his son, Angel Barrera. He was born on January 10, 1947, in Los Angeles, Tamaulipas, Mexico to the late Ernesto & Catarina Barrera. He was an adored son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather "Apa", and friend to many.
Better known to most as Guero, he was a devoted family man, who worked very hard to provide for his wife and children. He was a lifelong Astros fan, a fisherman, and a poker player. Guero loved to dance, tell jokes, and to solve sudoku puzzles. He enjoyed family BBQ's, especially smoking briskets.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Margarita Barrera; children: Sylvia Barrera, Arnoldo Barrera Jr, Gabriela Guzman and her husband, Luis Guzman; grandchildren: Oscar Silva III, Aliyah Silva, Luis Guzman II, and Fabian Guzman; foster grandchildren: Julian Rodriguez, Jayden Rodriguez, and Joseph Castorena; and numerous family members and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00
pm at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 18, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a committal at 12:00 pm.
