Aurora Lavador Ysaquirre was called home to be with the Lord on May 9, 2025. She passed peacefully in the presence of loved ones. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Aurora’s presence brought warmth, comfort, encouragement, and joy to all who knew her. Her unwavering love, strength, and grace left a lasting impact on her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Aurora Lavador Ysaquirre, 89, was born on August 22, 1935, in a small house on Liberty Road in Houston Texas. She was baptized on May 2, 1936, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Houston, Texas. She married Joe D. Ysaquirre on June 18, 1952, Houston, Texas.
Aurora worked at Fox Photo for 19 years and the Women’s Center of Houston for 6 years. After early retirement at the age of 62, she traveled and searched for casinos wherever she went. During election time, she worked at the polls for many years.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She enjoyed reading the Bible every morning and night. She was on the fourth reading of the Bible, just to gain a deeper understanding of God’s word.
Her passion was genealogy, where she researched her family’s ancestors to the 1500’s.
Aurora thoroughly enjoyed dancing, gambling and playing the card game, Spiders, on the computer. In her spare time, she wrote short stories and poems while enjoying a glass of wine.
One of her greatest loves was Mid-Night, her black cat who traveled with her everywhere she went.
Aurora’s legacy lives on through her children: Joe Jr. (Lou Ann), Yolanda (Frank), Vivian (the late Carlos), Jason (Snowy). Her sisters: Manuela (Leonard) and Irene (Tommy). Her brothers: Albert (Cecelia) and Paul. Her grandchildren: Joe III (Sonia), Anthony, Annissa (Jacob), Michael (Mireya), Richard Jr. (Leslie), Jay (Laura), and Courtney (Jake); along with step-grandchildren Caroline, Melissa, and Marcus, carry forward her spirit.
Seventeen great-grandchildren, with another on the way, continue that legacy: Jaclyn, Sabrina, Alex, Aaron, Brooke (Jackson), Haley, Isabella, Gabriella, Rosella, Ariella, Mariah, Richard III, Melina, Makayla, Eliana, Keaton, and Jesse. Step-great-grandchildren Olivia, Gabriella, and Esther also hold her memory close. Great-great-grandchildren Marley, Kaison, and Addison were blessings she lived to see.
Aurora was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Maria; brother Henry; and son-in-law Carlos. Her memory will be cherished by countless nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who were fortunate to share in her love and laughter over the years.
