Avelina Abrego Suarez, born February 11, 1933, in Houston, TX to Jesus Guerra Abrego and Hermerigilda Ramirez Abrego, both of Monterrey, Mexico, passed away peacefully at her home on June 1, 2018, at the age of 85. She was a loving wife, mother, and spiritual leader who loved unconditionally and was respected by all. We will miss her sweetness, strength, wisdom, and guidance. We appreciate all that she did for our family. Thank you Mom for your legacy and the family you and Dad created. Avelina was a social worker for several years working with Gulf Coast Social Services, United Way, and Meals on Wheels to name a few. She was a CCD instructor at Resurrection Church for several years. In August 1972 she became a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church Community and remained an active member of the community until her health deteriorated. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Antonio Ramirez Suarez, her sons Patrick Abrego Suarez and Michael Abrego Suarez and son-in-law Raphael Gomez. Her parents, Jesus Guerra Abrego and Hermerigilda Ramirez, brothers, Daniel Abrego, Michael Abrego, and Emilio Abrego. She is survived by her children Richard Suarez (Karen), Anthony Suarez, daughter-in-law Melva Suarez, Joseph Suarez (Gloria) Christine Suarez Gomez, Patricia Suarez Morales (Eugene), David Suarez (Cathi), Loretta Suarez Garcia (Robert), Thomas Suarez (Cindy), MaryAnn Suarez Castillo (Stephen), James Suarez, Jacqueline Suarez Ortega (Frank), Connie Suarez Mercado and Grace Suarez Clark (Chris). Twenty-eight grandchildren: Anthony Suarez (Stephanie) Sydney Suarez, Taylor Suarez, Carrie Suarez-Rosas (Miguel), Theresa Suarez Smith (Brian), Toni Suarez Riojas (Michael), Joseph Suarez (Karla), Christopher Suarez, Carla Gomez, Albert Gomez (Sarah), Tricia Morales Weaver (Josh), Eugene R. Morales, III(Judy), Patrick Morales ( Clarissa), Jeanna Morales, Tiffany Suarez, Carly Suarez Walker(John), Quinn Begin (Michelle), Alexander Begin (Melissa), Thomas Suarez, Jennifer Suarez Quackenbush (Carey), Timothy Suarez (Laura), Anne Castillo, Megan Suarez, Joelle Ortega, Lauren Mercado, Ernest A. Mercado III, Matthew Mercado and Neeley Clark. Twenty-seven great grandchildren: Kailyn Marie Suarez, John Suarez, Miquel Rosas IV, Jacob Rosas, Eli Soper, Owen Soper, Ava Riojas, Bria Suarez, Griffin Suarez, Paisley Suarez, Kailyn Genell Suarez, Tessa Weaver, Isaac Weaver, Nathaniel Weaver, Eugene Antonio Morales, Jude Morales, Charlotte Morales, Kaylee Walker, Weston Walker, Wade Walker, Thalia Begin, Avianna Begin, Ayden Begin, Madison Begin, Joel Quackenbush, Luke Suarez, and Caleb Suarez. Sisters, Linda McLoughlin (Leonard), and Angie Escobedo (Fred), and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Beverly Green for her assistance with the loving care of our mother.
