Barbara June Barnes Allen

Barbara June Barnes Allen, Tuesday, passed away on December 2, 2014, She was born on September 29, 1931 in a log cabin near Jordan, Montana on a 2100 acre ranch to Gladys Euell Barnes and Guy Barnes. At age five moved to Houston. Was graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1949, where as a Senior was voted most likely to succeed and friendliest. She then attended University of Texas at Austin, received a BA from the University of Houston in 1953. She holds an M.Ed. from University of Houston 1955, and taught elementary school in HISD for 30 years at Coop, Cooley, and Stevens Elementary schools.

Active member of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, member of Beta Eta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, HART Retired Teachers, VIP Seniors at St. Stephen’s, Joy Group of UMW, and Troop Committee Member of Boy Scout Troop 30.

Married Dwight Adams Allen in 1954. Survived by her husband of 60 years, sons Quincy Dwight and wife Janet Decker Allen, Russell Reichardt and wife Pamela Dye Allen, Rolland Euell and wife Karen Geer Allen and grandchildren William, Benjamin, Hannah Walker, Patrick and wife Rebekah, Ryan and Kayla Allen, great-grandson Shaun Patrick Allen and sister Juanita Barnes Pyle and husband Joe Pyle and their family.

Visitation on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Heights Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Ave., Houston, TX.
