Barbara Jean Garcia

On October 19, 2024 Barbara Jean Garcia, 86 years young, left this earth to be with her beloved husband of 52 years, Rudolph Garcia. She was a member and attended services at Ralston Memorial Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX until she moved from the Sheldon area. Barbara’s greatest joys in life were spending time with family, and traveling. She is survived by son, Richard Garcia, daughters, Gloria Garcia Rice and Leslie Dick (Dwayne), grandchildren, Carleigh Rice (Fiancé James Garcia), Kerry Rice, Katrina Chapa (Gerald), D.J. Dick and Brittany Read (Timothy), great-grandchildren, Angel Chapa, Aubrey Chapa, Avery Chapa, Korben Rice, Ripley Rice and Penelope Read. She is also survived by her sister Cora Bennett and a host of extended family and friends. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Rudolph Garcia, parents Jesse and Ora West, sisters Nell Story, Lavon Sepolio and grandson Kyle Rice.

Barbara was born in Lovelady, TX on December 1, 1937, and graduated from Milby High School in Houston, TX. She owned her own business where she worked as a beautician while her children were small and as a medical administrator in later years. Her passions in life were being a devoted wife to her husband and a very loving mother raising three active children. Later, she became a doting grandmother to six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
