Barbara Kitzman, a longtime resident of Miami, Florida, passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 at Woodridge Nursing Home in Houston, Texas. She had been a resident there since suffering a stroke the previous year.
A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, November 15th at 10:00 AM at Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston.
Barbara was born on Friday, April 14th, 1933 in Los Angeles, California to Clifford and Ethel Elkins. She grew up in Miami and went on to attend law school at Emory, becoming one of the few women to attend law school at that time. She later used her law background to teach government class in the Miami-Dade School system. As a teacher she touched many lives in a positive way.
Barbara always put family first and was selfless with her time and money. She was a devoted daughter and took care of her mother in her later years. Barbara enjoyed reading, painting, spending time with her family and taking care of her yard and garden. She was a member of Wayside Baptist church in Miami.
Barbara is survived by her children, Dan and Kristine.
