Barbara Ann Yarborough

On November 17, 2015 Barbara "Babs" Ann Pate Yarborough's spirit entered into eternal rest "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Barbara was born October 16, 1934 in Rosevine, TX to proud parents Thomas James Pate Senior and Mavis Lavada Taylor Pate. In her teens she traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland where she completed her education.

Upon returning to Houston, she met her prince, Leon Anson Yarborough. They were married March 14, 1953 at Second Baptist Church on McGowen St. in Houston with Dr. Kyle Yates officiating. They remained married until his death October 1990.

Barbara's passion in life was singing. She had a powerful voice and was truly gifted. Everyone always enjoyed hearing her beautiful voice as she sang at many occasions through the years professionally and socially.

She was a wonderful mother to her children and the ones she adopted through her friends and neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leon Anson Yarborough, and brother Thomas James Pate Senior. She is survived by her children Michael Anson, David Ronald, Scarlet Leann, and Blake Allan Yarborough; grandchildren Cash Anson, Reagan McKay, and Holden Cash Yarborough; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Barbara will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Monday, November 23, 2015 in the Grand Chapel at 9:00AM with a burial immediately .
