Corky was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Willis, his daughter, Megan Ponder, and son-in-law, Travis Ponder. He was the proud “PoPo” to his two cherished grandchildren, Shelby and Mason Ponder, who were the lights of his life. He also leaves behind his brother, Buddie Joe Willis, as well as many cousins and countless friends who were like family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pharaoh and Mattie Jo Willis, sister Judy Carol Willis, and many other dear family members, including his grandparents.
Corky was a hard worker and spent over 30 years at KIK International, where he was a skilled maintenance supervisor for blow mold machines. He attended Pearl Rucker Elementary, Deady Junior High, and Milby High School, where he made lifelong friends and left a lasting impression.
His love for rock and roll—especially hard rock—was unmatched, and he was a talented drummer who played in several bands. He had a passion for classic cars and was known for having one of the fastest cars in school. A true sports enthusiast, Corky excelled at baseball, earning a reputation for his powerful home runs—always preferring to knock it out of the park so he wouldn’t have to run the bases.
Corky was also deeply involved in his daughter’s swim team, volunteering as an official at meets and supporting the athletes with dedication and pride. His love for his family and friends knew no bounds, and he was best known for his infectious smile, quick wit, and endless stories.
To those who knew him, he was more than just a man—he was a presence. A friend to all, a loving father and grandfather, and a storyteller who could brighten any room. “Corkypop,” as many called him, will never be forgotten. His love, laughter, and larger-than-life personality will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
There will never be another Corky. His legacy will live on through the stories, music, and love he shared with so many.
