Barry lived with boundless energy, endless curiosity, and a true spirit of adventure. Much like the NASCAR races he loved, he moved through life at full speed, always looking forward to what came next.
Born in DuBois, Pennsylvania, Barry lost his father, Paul James Wingert, a WWII fighter pilot, when he was just weeks old. He was lovingly raised by his mother, Dorcas Amelia Kessler Wingert, and stepfather, Guy Eugene Armagost.
Barry’s adventures included raising rabbits, riding motorcycles, camping, scuba diving, and flying. He earned his pilot’s license and owned a Cessna 150. Gifted in mathematics and craftsmanship, he loved building, creating, and solving problems. He retired from Kinder Morgan.
On February 23, 1991, Barry married the love of his life, Jo Ann Riggs Wilson. Their 35 years together were filled with laughter, traveling back roads, camping, gardening, collecting cast iron, and searching for hidden treasures. Their greatest happiness was simply being together.
Barry was Jo Ann’s loving husband, protector, best friend, and the one who could always make her laugh. A gifted storyteller with quick wit and a generous heart, he brought joy to others and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Barry is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; daughters Brenda (Nick) Anglada and Stacy (Eli) King Steffen; son Barry Paul Wingert,Jr.; step-daughter Rachel Voyles (John); step-son Mark Wilson (Belinda); brother Bryan (Jean) Armagost; sister Terri (Tom) Dobrzyn; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by both fathers Paul James Wingert and Guy Eugene Armagost, mother Dorcas Amelia Kessler Wingert Armagost, and son Daniel James Wingert.
