Benjamin P. Arenas

Benjamin P. Arenas, 91, passed away peacefully in his home in Houston TX, on August 8, 2026. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Ramirez Arenas of Houston TX; his parents, Juan and Rosa Arenas; and his grand-daughters, Natalie Rodriguez and Jasmine Arenas. He is survived by his four children, Maria Magdalena Rodriguez and husband Abram, Rosa Linda Montecuollo and husband Vincenzo, Benjamin Arenas and wife Laura, and Noel Arenas and wife Abby, all of Houston TX. He leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Benjamin’s mark in life consists of numerous moments of joy, struggles, perseverance, dedication and generosity. He was born in Mexico City MX and grew up in Monterrey MX with his siblings. In his early twenties, he made Houston, TX his home. He met and married Alice Ramirez of Houston, TX and eventually they had four children. In his early years he worked a wide range of jobs from repairing desks for Houston schools, painting, roofing and finally carpentry. He excelled in cabinet making, decorative staircases, mantels, and wood moldings/trims for newly built luxury homes, as Houston was growing and expanding out to the suburbs. His perseverance led him to becoming a self-employed contractor. He developed many relationships and friendships throughout his career.

Besides Benjamin’s work values and ethics, his family was of great importance. He made time for trips to Monterrey with his wife and children to visit his parents, siblings and extended family. He was a proud Houstonian but also proud of his Mexican culture. He exposed his children to his culture on these trips to Monterrey. He shared as much of his culture as possible with his family, from the beautiful outdoor markets to the rivers, mountains, waterfalls and caverns.

If you knew Benjamin, you knew he loved seafood and he frequently went to one of his favorite restaurants, Pappadeaux. Ending a meal with a delicious dessert was practically a tradition for him. We can’t go without mentioning some of his favorite eateries or dessert shops such as Connie’s Seafood, Alamo Tamales, El Bolillo Bakery, Goode or Pappa’s bbq, IHOP and House of Pies to name a few. The Houston Farmers Market was another favorite of his for cracked pecans, honey and other produce. Most importantly, he shared his love of these places with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His family would like to acknowledge and greatly appreciate the following people: his primary care medical team at Village Medical, Home Instead Home Care Services, AccentCare Hospice and his private home care team Juanita and Maria. Juanita and Maria’s care and dedication surpassed expectations. They took care of him not only physically but spiritually through prayer and music. Benjamin came to accept Jesus Christ as his savior. Thank you all for walking with Benjamin on his journey home.

Pallbearers for Mr. Arenas' service will be Benjamin Arenas, Noel Arenas, Jason Ramirez, Nolan Rodriguez, Noel Arenas Jr. and Nicholas Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018, on August 19, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at Historic Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 N Main St, Houston, TX 77009, on August 19, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
