

Bernadean Campbell, 69, died on January 4, 2020 after a battle with congestive heart failure. Bernadean was born in Houston’s Riverside Hospital. She attended Brays Bayou Elementary (where her mother was a teacher), Turner Elementary, Miller Middle School and was a proud Class of 1968 graduate of Jack Yates High School. She studied at Texas Women’s University and Texas Southern Univerisity, where she followed in her mother’s legacy and pledged Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Bernadean retired from HISD’s Lamar High School in 2015. She was an active member of the Daughters of the King Chapter at St. James Episcopal Church.
She leaves behind a loving son, Lincoln Cameron Singleton, a devoted daughter-in-law, Tamala, and two grandsons, Colin and Ian Singleton. She is survived by her brother, Richard Campbell and sister, Sheryl Ann Campbell; loving nephews, Craig Campbell and Gregory Michael McGregor; and niece, Meshel McGregor. She also leaves behind great-nephews/nieces, cousins and scores of dear, lifelong friends. Her parents Ora Lee Campbell and Willie L. Campbell and older brother, Willie Ivory Campbell preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 11am at St. James Episcopal Church at 3129 Southmore Blvd, Houston, TX 77004.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. James Episcopal Church in her honor.
