At an early age the family moved to Weimar where her father had been born and raised. Bernice attended St. Michael Catholic School for eight years and then went to Weimar High School graduating in 1949. After graduating she worked for Herder Truck Line.
She married Allen August Schramm on October 9, 1950 at St. Michael Catholic Church. They were married for 48 years when he suddenly passed away in 1998.
They moved to Houston in 1953. That same year their first son Ricky was born. After Rick six more followed: Becky, Billy, twins Revette and Yvette, Dwayne and Allen Ray.
Bernice was a member of Assumption Catholic Church since 1958. For over twenty years she prepared the altar for weekday masses. She was a Eucharistic Minister, also brought communion to the homebound and was a lector. When needed she also assisted at funerals, weddings and quinceaneras. She was a member of the Altar Society, Harvest Years, and KJZT.
Preceding her in death was her husband, parents, brother Wilbert Kobersky and wife Theresa, daughter Revette Martin, sons Rick and Dwayne Schramm, and grandson Aaron Schramm.
Survivors are daughter Becky Hatcher, son Billy Schramm and wife Donna, daughter Yvette Borrego and husband Freddy, and son Allen R. Schramm.
Surviving also are 10 grandchildren, Ricky Schramm (Tracey), Stacy Schramm, Terry Hatcher, Brian Schramm (Deborah), Jason Martin, Ryan Martin (Kathleen), Amy McKinstry (Brian), Nicholas Borrego (April), Jessica Bradley (Kyle), Chip Borrego (Ana), 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson, and 2 step great-great granddaughters, and many nephews and nieces.

A visitation for Bernice will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 PM,
a vigil will begin at 6:00 PM, with a rosary at 6:30 PM. at Earthman Resthaven,
13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 1, at 10:00 AM at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Rose Lane, Houston, TX 77037.
Burial will be held on Saturday, September 2, at 10:00 AM at Brookside Cemetery,
