Bessie A. Barnes

Bessie A. Barnes “Nanny” age 89, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on Sunday, December 2, 2012. She was first and foremost a nurturer to her family and friends. Her professional career was spent managing the day to day operations for Dr. G.P. Barnes Chiropractic Office. She was a long standing member of American Business Women's Association, and she was a 21 Seminar GTO recipient of the Parker Chiropractic Research Foundation. Bessie Barnes came from humble beginnings and with her late husband, Dr. G.P. Barnes built a very successful Chiropractic practice on the northside of Houston. Her greatest accomplishment was service to her Lord, her family and those who were less fortunate. Bessie never turned a blind eye to a person in need. She was always there for those who needed comfort and support. She not only touched the lives of her family, but also to all that she lent a helping hand. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. G.P. Barnes, and her son, George Patrick "Rick" Barnes. Survived by daughter, Patricia A. Hunt and husband Thomas of Jackson, Michigan; grandson, George M. "Mike" Barnes and wife Lucy of Spring, Texas; great-grandchildren, Ryan Barnes and Aryn Barnes of Spring, Texas. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northside Christian Church Children's Ministry Building Fund, 20250 Kuykendahl Rd., Spring, Texas 77379.
