

Bethina Becks was born September 20, 1932 in Centerville, Texas to the union of Benjamin Becks and Henrietta Horn Becks. She was the oldest of two children, who affectionately called each other “Tenchie”. Bethina made her transition with her niece Lena, by her bedside on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Bethina graduated from Marian Anderson High School in Madisonville, Texas and attended Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas. To further her education, she attended Southwestern Business School in Houston, Texas.
At an early age, she professed her faith to Jesus Christ at Mount Lily AME Church in Centerville, Texas, where she served faithfully until Mount Lily AME Church united with Saint Paul AME Church in Centerville, Texas. While living in Houston, Texas, she faithfully attended Rising Star Baptist Church until she encountered health challenges.
Bethina married James Anthony, to this union, no children were born. She never had any biological children but always referred to the children of her sister Lucille as her children. She was a very loving and compassionate woman filled with grace and humility for her family and friends. Bethina loved serving others: She worked at Buffalo Nursing Home, Leona County Boys State School, Bert’s Café and KevFran Homes.
Bethina is preceded in death by her parents and her loving sister, Lucille Chatham and brother-in- law, Dillard Chatham, Great nephews: Maurice Chatham, JeRay Chatham, Josef Irving; great niece: Krystal Harris Canto. Her graceful life will forever be cherished by her 6 nieces and nephews: Lena Jones, Brenda Davis (Kenneth), Dillard Chatham Jr., Ray Chatham Sr. (Claudianne), Francis Johnson (Kevin) and
Janice Chatham (Trence). sixteen great nieces and nephews and 23 great-great nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
