Betty Joyce Vaughns

Betty was born January 25, 1949 to Sylvester Watts & Leveda Watts (Bea), who proceded her in death. She was born in Houston, Texas and later her brother Willie Ray Watts was born. Betty excepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church in her younger years. In 1982, she became a member of Highland Home Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W. T. Hickman, Sr. At Highland Home M. B. C., she served on trustee board, choir president, choir secretary, mission president, mission secretary, and Superintended of Sunday school. She attended Brock Elementary, Harper Junior High School & went on to graduate from Booker T. Washington High School. She was united in Holy matrimony to Leroy Vaughns in 1972. Betty taught school for the Houston Independent School District for 40 years. She retired in 2010. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Leroy Vaughns, one brother; Willie Ray Watts, sister-in-law; Law Angie Watts, one goddaughter; Felicia Simmons (known as Peaches), great aunts, Murtis Darby and Ora Lee Steward and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins.
