Billye was born to George M. Jeffus and Ira Brannen Jeffus on April 6, 1926, in Houston County, Texas. She married Edwin Fulton Simms in 1947, and they made their home in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her little sister Ada Myrick of Benton, Louisana.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fulton, her sons Paul Edwin and John Michael, John’s wife Susan, and by her siblings George M. Jeffus Jr., Beth Wedemeyer, Lou Grace Blount, and Mary Jane Hardy.
Billye was a vibrant, lovely, musical, and funny (particularly when with her sisters) soul. She was also a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. By her own testimony, from the date of her marriage, Billye “…silently vowed to be the best at that job.” She was a dedicated wife, mother, decorator, cook and gardener, frequently winning Yard of the Month in her neighborhood. Billye and her family vacationed each year in Colorado and, later, made frequent trips to Vermont to visit their son John and his wife Susan and their children. Billye and Fulton were active members of the Southwest Central Church of Christ in Houston.
A funeral service is scheduled for July 21, 2026 at Forest Park Lawndale (visitation at 9 AM, service in the Colonial Chapel at 10 AM, followed by interment). Reverend Stephen Sandifer will conduct the services. The family requests that donations be made to the Southwest Central Church of Christ, 4011 W. Bellfort Ave., Houston, TX 77025
