She was the 5th of 8 siblings, and grew up in the central Texas area, living off the farm and picking cotton. She would always say, “I think if we didn’t live on that farm, we all would have starved to death,” and with that mindset she was grateful for everything she had in life. When she turned 18, she headed to Houston with $8 in her pocket and has remained there ever since.
On Valentine’s Day of 1952, she went on a blind date with a young polack named Edmund Gutowski, and the rest was history. They were married in June of the following year and enjoyed 42 long years of marriage with a family of 7 children.
Her main three passions in life were God, family and gardening.
There are many memories of her baking for the church bake sales, saying her daily rosary, receiving the Eucharist every opportunity she could, hosting huge family gatherings and having the best garden and flowers on the north-side of Houston.
On June 28, 2025, she was called home to our Heavenly Father and joined her husband and family who preceded her in death.
Her memory will be kept alive by her 6 living children and their families including her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
