

On Wednesday October 27 we will celebrate the life of Bruno William Reich who passed away peacefully in his home in Howard County, Maryland on Monday, October 18, 2021. Bruno was born and grew up in the Greater Eastwood Neighborhood of Houston, Texas. He graduated from the University of Houston with bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics in 1956.
He was hired by NSA and moved to Washington DC specializing in radio frequency work in Europe. In 1959 he was hired by NASA for the Mercury Project, manned space flight, and was instrumental in designing and setting up tracking stations around the world including Australia, Jakarta, the Pacific islands, Europe, and the US. In 1958 he married Patricia Pyles. They later moved to Howard County, MD, and raised 3 sons where he was very active in Boy Scouts. In the 1960’s and 70’s he continued work on the Gemini and Apollo programs at NASA designing and building systems for telemetry, transmitters, scanning receivers, phase demodulators and other electronic equipment for the space program. He was later hired by NOAA to work on synchronous meteorological satellite systems and data collection.
In 1984 he married Diana C. McCracken, took an early retirement from the government, and became a real estate broker, real estate developer, and CPA. His passion for flying led him to develop a private grass airstrip and obtain instrument and commercial pilot ratings. He was also an avid ham radio enthusiast and obtained an Extra Class radio license.
He is survived by his wife Diana C. Reich; Sons Dennis F. Reich, Bruno V. Reich, and Clark E. Reich; 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, Houston, TX on Wednesday October 27 at 10am followed by a service at 12:00 and burial at 1:00pm.
