She was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on November 16,1947. Shortly thereafter, she returned to Houston with her mother.
She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1966. High school is also where she met her husband, John Dee Browning, with whom she shared a long, spirited marriage and the kind of understanding that only comes from a lifetime together. John and Bunny celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December 2017.
Bunny was a lifelong Houstonian, where she worked for Houston Lighting & Power and CenterPoint Energy for 40 years. She was bright, curious and fun-loving—always quick with a wisecrack, a smile and a kind word for friends and strangers alike. She had a keen eye for the memorable details that made people feel special.
She loved animals of all kinds, exploring with her grandsons, reading, going to the beach, and watching the Astros play. Most of all, she was absolutely devoted to her friends and family, and especially to her grandchildren, who were one of her greatest joys in life.
Bunny was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Irene Thompson, and her brother, Thomas Lorton Thompson.
She is survived by her husband, John Dee Browning, son John Devlin Browning, daughter-in-law Lise Kathryn Bohn, and grandchildren Wyatt Raymond Browning and Quinn Duncan Browning.
She is also survived by her father Charlie Duncan Browning, sisters Connie Kay Ash and husband Rick, Cheryl Ann Futrell and husband Andy, and a great retinue of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Thursday, November 29, from 5 to 7 PM. Services will also be at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Friday, November 30, at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, Bunny asked for donations be made to Friends for Life Animal Shelter.
