Camillo Anthony Russo, 66, of Pearland, TX, passed away to be received by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 16, 2018. He was born in Palermo, Italy on October 28, 1952. Anthony came to America as a 5 (five) year old child. Once Anthony arrived in Houston with his family he had to learn the english language and get adjusted to life in America. To say he adjusted is an understatement. He graduated from High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army as one of their youngest military police officers during the Vietnam War. Anthony went onto enlist in the Coast Guard Reserves and Texas National Guard. After his service to his country he came back to Houston, TX to become a Houston Fire Fighter. He had many positions in the Fire Department from pipe man, paramedic, to chauffeur and achieved the rank of Junior Captain as an Arson Investigator. During his time in the Fire Department he achieved certifications as a Master Police Officer and a Master Fire Fighter. He was a dedicated member of the Houston Fire Fighters Union Local 341. As an executive board member he made sure that every Fire Fighter in the department had a voice and was looked after. In 1997, cancer came at Anthony and the doctors told him he had only 2 (two) months to live. Anthony was a fighter and he was not going to accept this and turned to the Lord for help. He had two children and a wife and he was not going to go out without a fight. He worked straight through his fight against cancer, working two jobs at times to support his family. Anthony loved motorcycles and would ride all the time with his lovely wife Janice around town despite his illnesses. Everywhere Anthony traveled someone knew him and loved him. He touched so many lives and loved so many people. Anthony had no greater love than the love for his family. He dedicated his life to them and did everything possible to make sure that they would not have to go through the hardships he encountered in this world. Anthony is survived by his wonderful wife Janice who was his greatest cheerleader, his two children Michael and Stacey (her husband Spencer Barnard) and his second daughter, his daughter in law Toni Russo. His greatest joy in life his four grandchildren John, Andee, Gavin, and Meghan. Anthony fought cancer bravely for 21 years and now he is at peace and can finally rest with our Lord. Funeral arrangements will be held on November 21, 2018 at the Grand Chapel, Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Ave. Houston, TX 77023. A viewing will be held at 8:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 9:30 a.m.
