

Cannie Vee Gerhardt, 84, of Pasadena, Texas passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022. She was born on December 18, 1937 in Wheeler, Texas, to Charles Taylor and Katherine Taylor Jones. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Houston Clear Lake in 1972. Cannie was an elementary school teacher for Houston Independent School District.
Cannie was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 59 years, George Gerhardt.
She is survived by three daughters: Kathy Scalf of Pasadena, Texas; Charlotte "Janet" Poe and husband, Randy, of Sugar Land, Texas; and Donna Robbins and husband, Chuck, of Spring, Texas; six grandchildren: Michael Schanlaub and wife, Nicole; Kenny Schanlaub and wife, Ashley; Jennifer Poe; Jeffrey Poe; Chris Robbins; and Brittany Watts and husband, Winston; and seven great-grandchildren: JW Brown, Olivia Brown, Meredith Schanlaub, Emerson Schanlaub, Luke Schanlaub, Slade Watts and Paxton Watts. She is preceded in death by her older brother, Donald Wayne Taylor, and his wife and her best friend, Jo Taylor. She is survived by her younger brother and sister, William Taylor and Treasa Doyal. She is survived by three nieces: Sherree Taylor White, Ronda Doyal, and Teri Sullivan.
Cannie’s greatest joys were gardening and attending Golden Acres Baptist Church. She was an active member of Golden Acres Baptist Church for nearly forty years where she was a voluntary librarian, a children’s bible school teacher, a vacation bible school teacher, the founding member of the Golden Acres Baptist Church Garden Club, and a member of the Young at Hearts. Cannie was a member of EE (Education Extension) and the Red Hats. Cannie was a master gardener. Cannie loved all of her plants, but she most prized her Plumerias.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at Golden Acres Baptist Church, 2812 Pansy St., Pasadena, Texas 77503. A committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598.
Pallbearers will be Randy Poe, Chuck Robbins, Michael Schanlaub, Kenny Schanlaub, Chris Robbins, Jeffrey Poe, Winston Watts, and Luke Schanlaub. Honorary Pallbearers are William Taylor, Ronnie Doyal, Slade Watts, and Paxton Watts.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Golden Acres Baptist Church, 2812 Pansy St., Pasadena, Texas 77503.
