She was born in Houston, TX to Consuelo Magallanez, and Julian Alva, being one of five children. She worked for Sears for 20 years, before moving on and retiring from Southwestern Bell after 10 years. During this time, she worked hard and achieved her GED before retiring. In her retirement she loved cooking Sunday family dinners, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Awaiting her homecoming are her husband of 54 years, Isabel Martinez, her son, her son-in-law, her granddaughter, her parents, and her siblings.
She is survived by her children Stella, Elizabeth, (Jesse), Anthony, Eve, (Manuel), Adam (Lupe), Michael, and James; 11 surviving grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and her sister. Her legacy will live on through the love she had for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 5:00PM to 9:00PM on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home Chapel, 6900 Lawndale Avenue, Houston, TX with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 10:00AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 7539 Avenue K in Houston, TX. A Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
