She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother James W Hilmers, Jr and his wife, Cora Hilmers, by her brother George Hilmers, her brother Dennis Hilmers, her lifelong friend and companion, Sharyn Smith, and her sister Rose Teal. She leaves behind her sister Martha McMillian and husband Charles, sister Mary DeVries and husband James, and sister Phyllis Gamble. Phyllis was not only Carol's beloved sister, but her companion and caregiver for the last several years.
Carol graduated from Reagan High School. After high school, she went on to complete and graduate from Business School. Carol spent many years working at Great Southern Life and enjoyed the time she had there. She attended White Oak Baptist church for many years. In her later years, she attended church at Airline Manor Baptist church. She also loved attending concerts with fellow church members through the years. She never had children of her own, but she spoiled all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her children. She enjoyed traveling and had many adventures with friends and family, including trips to Colorado, Big Bend, Washington, and Niagara Falls to name a few. She loved to be on the go, in her words, she loved to go "scooter poopin". She enjoyed making miniature creations out of toothpicks and really paid attention to the details in her craft. She loved doing anything and everything on the computer. She never met a stranger, even online. She was a friend to all and generous to a fault. If you were around her, you would be laughing and having a good time. She made everyone feel like they were her favorite, because they were.
Carol passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the age of 93. She was surrounded by loved ones and will be missed by all.
