The photo I share here is one of my favorites, my Aunt Dolly and me, and her little dog Candy, 1980-something, in Mama’s kitchen. I adored my Aunt Dolly, and as a child I loved it whenever she would come over. She was always so beautiful. When I think of her, I will always remember her with her long blonde hair, big brown eyes, and her cute long skirts with wedgie shoes. Whenever we would talk on the phone, her voice would light up when she talked about Cheyn and Candice. Living so far away for so long, I wish I could have seen her more, but I have saved little notes and cards through the years and always loved when we talked on the phone. I have a little card from her in my recipe box, with her recipe for homemade applesauce. One of the best memories I have is of Thanksgiving one year when I was in high school. I was there at Aunt Dolly’s, with my mom, Beverly, and Grandma Shug and Grampa Ray. Another happy memory is when Uncle Leonard and Aunt Dolly visited my mom’s when I flew in from Connecticut to Texas. They drove up to meet my daughter when she was a baby.
The last time Aunt Dolly and I spoke, she called me on my birthday this past March. It made me so happy to hear from her that day. I will always remember her love for her family, her laughter, and her love for her pets.

Dolly (Carol) and I were closer to being sisters due to our age, we had endless fun, climbing trees, her pumping me on the back of her bicycle, dogs chasing us, digging for bugs and frogs !!!!! We used to camp out in the tree tower, eat a whole bowl of icing with our fingers, Dr Peppers and Taco flavored Dorito's. I used to watch her get ready to go out as a teenager, putting on her makeup, hours spent on those eyelashes!!! GoGo dancing!!!! Those memories are with me forever!!! Love you Aunt Dolly!!!
