

Carolyn Marks Cambre, passed away on April 12, 2011 in Houston, Texas at the age of 74. Carolyn’s year long struggle with cancer was bravely fought and ended peacefully. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 25, 1937 to August James and Margaret Russell Marks, Carolyn was the youngest of four daughters. After graduation from Dominican High School, Carolyn married Gerald “Jerry” T. Cambre in 1957, and their adventure began. The Air Force took them to Florida and the oil field took them to Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas, where in 1972, the family settled in Houston. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, entertaining and all things blue including the Houston Texans. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She has been a member of St. James Catholic Church in Spring, Texas for many years.
Carolyn is predeceased by her parents, her husband Jerry and son-in-law, Wayne Broadbent. She is survived by her daughters Karen Broadbent of Houston, Tracie Pierce and husband Chuck of Houston, Cynthia D’Ortona and husband John of San Antonio, Tricha Hawkins and husband Bob of Dallas, and Jeanne Pavloski of Houston; sisters Merle Rehm and Olga Fasola of New Orleans, La. and Janet Schully of Memphis, Tennesee; grandchildren Michael and Steven Broadent, Thomas and Nicole D’Ortona, Zachary and Alexandra Pierce, Erin, Will and Jason Hawkins, and Nicholas and Cameron Pavloski, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6-8 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home at 13102 N. Freeway, Houston, TX 77060 on Thursday, April 14. The funeral services will be held on Friday, April 15 at 12:30pm at the same location
In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family requests that donations be directed to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
