Carolyn graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University and married her high school sweetheart, Jim Piana, after graduating from college. Her commitment to helping children achieve their potential was a testament to her caring heart and belief that every child deserved a chance to succeed.
She was known for her kindness, positive outlook, and happy demeanor that brightened the lives of everyone around her. An avid gardener, Carolyn found joy in nurturing both plants and people. Carolyn loved taking family trips around the country with her husband Jim and their two boys, Mike and Brian, with Big Bend National Park always holding a special place in her heart. She was a beloved "second mom" to all of Mike and Brian's friends, welcoming them into her home and heart with the same love and care she showed her own family. Above all, she treasured her role as a grandmother and found her greatest happiness in spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
