Celinda Anne LaChapelle Haydel, age 78 of Kingwood TX entered eternal rest on February 17, 2024 at Methodist Hospital Woodlands location. She was a loving wife, mother of two daughters and grandmother (Gram) of 8. She was born on August 2, 1945 in Beaumont TX. The oldest daughter of the late Wilson and Elvina (nee: Darbonne) LaChapelle.
Celinda was preceded in death by her father, Wilson LaChapelle, her mother, Elvina LaChapelle, her brother, Kwill LaChapelle, and two grandsons, Aaron Anderson and Vito Cabrera.
She was the oldest child and helped mom care for her younger siblings. They maintained a close and loving relationship all their lives. Celinda was always willing to help a friend in need. She would get constant calls from acquaintances crying in distress. She would listen and calm them down. She was a constant optimist and everyone’s encouraging cheerleader! Celinda loved sugar free chocolates, coke zero and country music.
In addition to being a devoted mother and grandmother Celinda was a compassionate and caring person. She graduated from Kashmere Gardens HS class of 1963 and was voted “Most Dependable” by her classmates. After graduation her first job was at Parkway Hospital, in Houston TX. She was trained as an X-ray technician and worked there until she attended DeLynn Beauty College earning her cosmetology license. She was a natural in this field being promoted to Salon Mgr. and shared her talents with many grateful clients.
Celinda married her best friend and love of her life, Raleigh Ted Haydel on April 24, 1971 they were blessed with two beautiful daughters. After her daughters were born she left the salon and operated a small daycare in her home. She cared for babies & toddlers until they were school age. All the kids’ affectionally called her Cece and loved her as a mother figure. She also cared for her nieces and nephews. Celinda was very active in her daughters lives. She was a Girl Scout troop leader and her home was always full of love and laughter where her girls’ friends visited often!
When her grandkids were born, they became her priority and she was their babysitter. Celinda said, her best accomplishment was her daughters and grandchildren. She was so very proud of them and loved them unconditionally!
Those left behind to cherish her memories are, her devoted husband of 52 years, Ted Haydel, her daughters Mindy (Lowell) Anderson and Melissa (Jose) Cabrera, grandsons, Vicente, Victor & Vance Joseph Cabrera, Adam & Andrew Anderson and granddaughter Celinda Olivia Cabrera, sisters Paula (Johnny) Bell, Lilson Margo (Ken) Curl, Veronica LaChapelle, sister in laws, Elsa Phillips & Peggy Boutte, brother in law, Andre Haydel.
Celinda also leaves many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
