Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to George F. Burriss and Mayme Burriss, Charles grew up with a love for sports, excelling as an all-city pitcher in baseball and earning MVP honors in football. After attending UTEP, he obtained his commercial license and built a long, dedicated career hauling gas and diesel, retiring after 32 years with Sun Coast Resources.
Charles will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose kindness, generosity, and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He found joy in playing the guitar and spending time on the golf course, simple pleasures that reflected his steady and easygoing nature. A trusted source of guidance, support, and wisdom, he was deeply valued and dearly loved by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanette; his three sons and their wives, Michael J. Burriss (Nicole), Matthew C. Burriss (Ashley), and Richard B. Burriss (Ayesha); six beloved grandchildren, Michael Jr., Thomas, Lauren, Joshua, Maddox, and Emery Burriss; his brothers, George Burriss and Thomas W. Burriss; four great grandchildren, Lorenzo, Avery, Alora and Alayah and numerous nieces and nephews.
