

Charlsie Lee Westbrook passed away peacefully on February 7, 2010. She was 87 years old.Charlsie was born in Port Lavaca, TX on February 18, 1922. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlsie and David E. Miller her beloved husband, M.A. (“Westy”) Westbrook, her sister Hazel Billingsley and her brother, Malcolm Miller.She is survived by her two daughters, Charlsie Rogge and husband Doug and Merry Adamcik and husband Roy; five grandchildren Jennifer Johnson, Sarah McQuistion, Kevin Rogge, Scott Adamcik and Emily Adamcik; three great grandchildren, Grant Johnson, Jack Johnson and Elijah Rogge.Charlsie graduated from Charles H. Milby High School and the University of Houston with a degree in biology and education. During World War II she worked at the Hughes Tool Strut Plant making landing gears for B-17 airplanes and later taught biology and microbiology at the school of nursing.After the war she went to work for Shell Oil Company where she met her husband “Westy.” They lived happily in Houston, Texas until Westy was transferred to New Orleans, LA. with Shell Oil Company. It was in New Orleans that Charlisie discovered her interest and talent in art. She began showing her work at Anglaide-Barthelome Gallery in the French Quarter. Charlsie was an active artist until her eyesight failed her. She was active in the Sugarland Area Artists. She was also a long time member of the first United Methodist Church of Missouri City.Charlsie enjoyed life to its fullest. She loved to cook and entertain her family and friends. She never let anyone go hungry in her home and her smile always brightened the day of those around her. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 10 @ 2:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. on Wednesday in the Family Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Center for Sight Enhancement, University of Houston Optometry School, 505 J.
