Cheryl Renee Miller Price the eldest of three children was born May 25, 1955 to the late Sam and Edith Miller in Taylor, Texas. She was a graduate of Jack Yates Sr. High School Class of 1973 and went on to continue her education at Incarnate Word University in San Antonio. She later completed her studies at Houston Community College where she obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing. Cheryl accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Luke Episcopal Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Granville V. Peaks, Jr. She later joined and was baptized at New Faith Church under Pastor T. R. Williams. Continuing her journey in fellowship she later moved to Starlight Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor Allen T. Guillory Sr., where she served on the Pastor's Aide and also shared her talent for crochet through donating various items for fundraisers. After his passing she continued her spiritual journey at New Beginnings Fellowship under the guidance of Pastor Tony Lawson, Jr., where she was a co-founder of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She used her talent for crochet to give comfort to those suffering from pain, bereavement, or in need of prayer. Cheryl was employed at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital for twenty two years where she first began her career in the Cardiology department as a cardio scan technician. After obtaining her nursing degree she continued her employment at St. Luke's working on a cardiac telemetry unit. She met Herbert B. Price while working at the hospital and they were later married. She continued her employment there until after receiving a bilateral lung transplant due to pulmonary hypertension and sarcoidosis. She desired to return to work as a registered nurse but due to several additional surgeries and procedures she was later required to retire. She continued her nursing practice through sharing her healthcare expertise with friends and family members and through work with church groups and organizations sharing her living testimony. She exceeded the doctor's projected life expectancy of seven years post transplant through her tireless fight and will to live. Her passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She cherished every moment her transplant had afforded her being able to witness the births of her grandchildren, and the marriages of her daughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother-in-law Tony Lawson Sr., step-daughter Leonora Draper, and grandson Cornelius Brown III. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, D'hania L. Miller-Quarles (Chris), and Quentaria J. Miller-Brown (Cornelius); one sister Gloria Lawson, one brother Gary Miller Sr. (Pat); brother-in-law Gregory Price (Caroline); five grandchildren T'Aira Boyance, Kyani Quarles, J'Desmond Brown, Quentin Brown and Darius Brown. She also leaves to cherish her memories numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
