This is the first image that comes to my mind.  Although this marriage didn't last very long this picture will last forever.  This is 2009 when you and Ken traveled all the way to Kentucky for Gina's wedding just two days after Christmas.  I will always be grateful that you were both here.  

I don't even remember meeting you, for the first time.  It seems that you have always been a part of our family.  I remember the many hours of hanging out in mom's living room.  The great food and rich conversations.  You brought so much joy to my brother Kens life.  You made your house a home.  We love you and will always miss you.

Chris, as I told you a couple of weeks ago, you were the best ex-husband a second husband could ever have. I love you like a brother and miss you very much. 

There are so many memories. How about Linda’s and my wedding? You were there with Ken. I was already catering the reception, and I realized that I couldn’t be the photographer too. I looked around and decided to volunteer you. Not only did you wield the film camera like a pro, you took pix of Linda’s family and friends (who you hadn’t seen since the divorce) without any hint of awkwardness. When the pix were developed, the photos were great.

We also actively co-parented. How many times do you think we collaborated in 26+ years? 100? 200?  The kids had no idea how many times you or I would call or text to discuss challenges we were facing with them. 

How about the time about 18 years ago when I called and I said. “You need to come over right away. Stephanie has something she needs to tell you that she has to say it in person.” And you came! You dropped everything and came right over with Ken. Then, when Stephanie told you that you were about to be a grandfather, you were gobsmacked. You had no idea. 

One day I asked Linda “what is the kitchen trash can doing over there? “ Then, we looked around the house and realized you had rearranged our furniture again. (Yes readers, I said “again.”) Usually what you chose to do was better than we had before.

When you were in the last months of your life, we talked about the kids, and I told you I was not going to be able to fill your role as well as my own after you were gone. You told me not to worry. The kids don’t need the support that we had given up till then. They are old enough to stand on their own feet. You were right of course. But I knew how much they would hurt when you were gone, and I didn’t really want to face that. 

Last, you loved your babies and grandbabies unconditionally, and they loved you the same way. You were a popular Pops!
