On the most celebrated Christian holiday in the world, a star was born. Christopher Robert Lowman was born on December 25, 1969, to Beverly Pearl Lowman and Meredith Lowman. He was truly a Christmas gift to remember, and one that would touch hearts and lives for years to come. He moved to Houston after spending his first 15 years in Detroit, where he was raised by Lillie Clark, affectionately known as “Aunt Teedy.”
He attended Elsik High School, where he ran track, played football, and was a social butterfly that won the hearts of many friends. He lived his life out loud, touching lives across the globe.
He attended Texas Southern University and was initiated into the Delta Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in the fall of 1995. He was number seven on his pledging line and was appropriately given the line name, “Doc Holiday.” He also was a proud member of the Rising Star Masonic Lodge #125. He took pride in community service and dedicated his life to mentoring young men. Upon graduation from Texas Southern University, he began a career that involved, home construction, real estate, and worked as Construction Project Inspector and Manager. He was a self-taught home contractor and used his skills throughout the city and abroad. He always stretched himself thin to help many people with home repair issues and emergencies.
In March of 2002, Chris married Marquel Warren, and through this union they had a daughter, Tae’Lor and a son, Bradley.
Christopher joined Brentwood Baptist Church as a young man and served there for many years. In 2001, he became a charter member of The Fellowship of Redeeming Truth Church (The F.O.R.T) under the leadership of Pastor John B. Hollmon. He was a huge asset to the church, and even more so, to the pastor; he served faithfully in various leadership roles, until his death.
He loved everything about sports. He was the number one fan of The Dallas Cowboys, played softball for the Skrewed Up Klick, was a proud to engage in cycling excursions with GHC. If Chris wasn’t participating in sports, he was coaching. He was able to share his athletic passion by coaching Little League Football and Basketball for Bradley and watching Tae’Lor play Volleyball. He was also the well-loved track coach for CL Stars. Chris was larger than life and it showed during the times that he could be loudly screaming across a crowded gym or field on any given day.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Ethel Wilson, Fannie and Willie Clark, and Elizabeth and Robert Lowman. Awaiting his arrival in Glory are his mother, Beverly; father, Meredith, and brother Kevin.
He leaves to mourn his memory his beloved aunt, Lillie Clark; sister Nikki Lynch (Tony); nephews Courtney and Nicholas Lynch; his forever love, Marquel Lowman; children Tae’Lor, Bradley, and his eldest daughter Maya Hamilton; nephews, Carlin and Marlin Warren; and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.
