Elaine was born to William Joseph Henry Herrmann and Clara Gertrude Herrmann, October 10, 1923, in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1943. She married James Louis Hilburn in 1952, and they lived together in Houston, Texas. Together they raised three daughters. When it was time to retire, their lives took a turn from the Big City to Country Life in East Texas. They lived on acreage where they raised cattle, planted fruit trees, and a vegetable garden. Once again, the church became the center of their lives filled with wonderful people.
She is survived by her three daughters: Claire Kelley and husband Ted; Judy Nystedt and husband Greg; Holly Hardy and husband William. She also leaves to cherish her memory three grandsons, Ryan Nystedt and wife Sabrina; Chase Hardy; and Connor Hardy; one great grandson, Blane Nystedt; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Herrmann; mother, Clara Herrmann Blasburg; brother, William Herrmann; sister, Mildred Daly; nephew, Herman Daly; and great nephew Brent Herrmann.
Elaine worked only a few years as a Telephone Operator for Southwestern Bell and for Harris County Court House doing secretarial work. Her favorite job was being able to stay home raising her daughters and being a homemaker! She was a wonderful cook and gardener! Elaine has always been very active in her church. She was a children’s Sunday School Teacher for years! After moving to East Texas, Garrison Methodist Church services and Bible Study every week became favorite activities with loving friendships.
A Service is scheduled for Thursday, March 13 with Visitation at 11am, Service at Noon, and Graveside at 1:00 pm Forest Park Lawndale. The family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
