

Born February 28, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, Clare was the youngest child of William T. and Clare I. Slick. She was known for her devotion to God, humor, her personable nature, and the way she could make anyone feel welcome. Outgoing and full of life, she had a gift for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Her creativity was woven into everything she touched—whether she was crafting something beautiful by hand or finding inventive ways to bring joy to her family.
Living in Houston, TX, she married Frank R Jacomino April 30, 1955. They had 5 children before losing her husband to cancer. She was involved in a Widow/Widowers church group at St. Cecilia Catholic Church where she met Robert G. Way, who had 6 children. They married September 23, 1965. Together they added a daughter to their blended family.
Clare was a seamstress in every sense — not only sewing fabric but stitching together a family of twelve children with care, love, and unwavering faith. Her family grew into a vast, vibrant legacy that carries her spirit forward.
She is survived by her children Michael (Susie) Way, Jerry (Kathy) Way, Dennis (Judy) Way, Danny (Carol) Way, Judy (Shane) Morey, Frances Way, Carol Midani, Bill (Carrin) Way, Jim (Susan) Way, John (Lisa) Way, and Mary Sanchez; as well as her daughter-in-law Janet Way, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents William T. and Clare I. Slick, loving husbands Robert “Bob” Way and Frank R. Jacomino, siblings Bill Slick, Bob Slick, and Mary Fortney, son Tim Way, son-in-laws Rudy Midani and Robert Sanchez, and grandchildren John Paul Way and Sabrina Way.
There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 11:00am, 6646 Addicks Satsuma Drive, Houston, Texas 77084.
