

Clarence Emmett Burton was born February 16, 1949 to the union of Pastor Tom Burton, Jr. and Sister Ruby Beatrice Flix Burton. The Lord called him home on April 11, 2013. Clarence's mother Sister Ruby Beatrice Burton preceded him in death. He received Christ at the early age of seven and baptized by his father at Greater Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. Clarence was affectionately known as "Lil Bubba" and "Uncle Lil Bubba" by family and friends. He grew up in the Piney Point area located in Houston, Texas. He attended Piney Point Elementary and Richard E. Lockett Middle School. He graduated in 1967 from Evan E. Worthing High School. He continued his education at Texas Southern University School of Pharmacy and later graduated from Massey Business College School of Real Estate. He was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of his father, Pastor Tom Burton, Jr. at Mount Corinth Baptist Church in Fresno, Texas. He served as a Mason for several years. During his membership, he held the position of secretary for the local chapter. He worked in the family owned business, Burton's Trash & Demolition Services. In 1987, Clarence became the sole proprietor. He was a very diligent and highly respected business owner. Manual labor was not a threat to his ability to complete a task. Many times he worked more than the average 8 hours a day. Although his health was failing, he continued to oversee the daily business operations. On August 27, 1983, he was united in marriage to Debra Ann Warren and to this union two children were born; Ashley and Dedrick. Clarence was a very good provider for his family and very family- oriented. He was a father figure to his grandson James who was an inspiration in his life. Clarence was a very dedicated son, brother, uncle, husband, father and grandfather. He was a soft spoken, kind-hearted and good-spirited person. He helped with the caregiver duties for his father until his health no longer permitted him to provide his assistance. Clarence is survived by a very devoted and loving wife, Debra Burton; two children, daughter Ashley Burton, son Dedrick Burton and grandson James Derrow, Jr.; father Pastor Tom Burton, Jr., five sisters: Mary D. West (Pastor H.L. West), Ruth White, Cynthia Burton, Edna Watts and Carol Brooks. Two brothers: Wilton C. Burton (Vera) and Apostle Edmund T. Burton (Michele), mother-in-law Lois Warren, fifty-three nieces and nephews, ninety-eight great nieces and nephews, and numerous family and friends.
